Apps on Vista

I've found some sites that lists more popular software as working on vista ( http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Wind...patibility_List )

Can anyone conform if winroll & rk launcher works on vista as flawlessly as it does on xp?

I know they haven't been developed for a while and I'm gonna have a really hard time getting used to using the computer without winroll.

I would stick with XP professional, but I'm building a new pc and my MSDN account lets me download vista for free.

and ehm.. does vista's DRM limit like, file sharing and such? I mean, not in a illegal sense, but my CD's get burnt, and lost, and then copied, from laptop to desktop, back to a CD and such... sometimes I upload stuff onto my gmail space so I can open it on another computer. how about over a network? send it over to my friend or something.

DRM in Vista doesn't affect file transfers, only playback of media files that fail the DRM check..

As for the apps... don't use them, so I can't help ya there.

.. but if I've ripped and and burned and transfered, converted to mp3's, and try to play the files on a new vista pc, would it playback? Most of my library music collection is digitally stored, and my hard-copy cd's are stored away somewhere in my parent's home..

It will play back.

Play back quality depends on the methods used to rip the music.

as for DRM this is what believe. If you pay for the music, it's YOURS, right? So you should have complete control of it. I personally use fairuse4wm to strp DRM from my Naspter music. It doesn't violate Napsters TOS as long as your aren't distributing the music. I'm not sure about iTunes or any other services TOS.

And it's been proven that Vista actually increases torrent download speeds. It wasn't intentional, but it does work out that way. With XP Pro I was only able to get a max of aound 500k down, with Vista I've been getting over 800-900k down or more.

RKL works flawlessly on Vista. I'm not sure about winroll.
