Cannot access CD-ROM from Windows

I got problem with the CD-ROM accessibility. The CD-ROM able to detect at Bios, but I cannot access the CD-ROM via the OS (no CD-ROM icon). When I go to command prompt, same thing happen. I have confirmed that the CD-ROM is working fine. How do I install the CD-ROM driver?

Remove/Uninstall it from Device Manager... this may be what caused you Stop Error you mentioned in your other thread.

This should force Windows to reinstall the driver.

make sure jumper setting are right. make sure there are no IRQ confilicts. sometime two pieces of hardware try to use the same interupt controllers. you can check that in System Information...if it shows a conflict just reset your BIOS to default settings and reboot. If it doesn't show that then unplug it reboot..turn the pc off hook it back up and reboot again.

does anyone one know how to troubleshoot the

registry?

First thing to remember... just because it can be "seen" in the BIOS, doesn't mean its working properly.

Try installing another CD-ROM drive.
