I just found out why my superdrive is a "super"-drive!!!! :own: The drive is actually a MATsh##A DVD-R UJ-815 whose specs are CD-R 16x CD-RW 8x, DVD-RAM 2x, DVD-R 2x, DVD-RW 1x!!!!! Apple limits the drive specs for two reasons, the lot of superdrives that they buy, when tested range is specifications, but many do correspond to the Matsh##a's original drive specs, but Apple took the safe way out and limited the firmware of all the drives. Secondly, the higher speeds of burning in a thin (heat succeptable) case may affect the longterm reliability of the drive. However of late Apple's Powerbook 17" firmware called DWDB has support for factory specs, and I have this firmware!!!!!! :woot: :woot: What about you H4rm, I'm curious to know how yours is faring?????
