Is AppleCare worth it?

Tell me your thoughts, but quickly! Time is nearly running out for me to purchase it and get the extension .

If I were you I wouldn't. I'd spend my money in something better from Apple.

No surge protection, no accidental coverage, no battery replacement (if notebook), and no normal wear and tear coverage. If i had to do it again with my iBook, I'd go for store warranty if available. Bought mine at Compusa, which had theirs for $50 more, but covered all of the above..

i would get it on a notebook just because it's cheap, but not for a desktop. my imac didnt have any applecare but my ibook and macbook pro did. the only time i actually used it was to get a replacement keyboard for my ibook, which i had to install myself

try and get it bundled in free ... trick is to buy other 'accesories' as well as the computer...

Thanks for that link bh2, and thanks for your tips everyone else! The AppleCare just ran out on my old MacBook, and I'm going to wait to see if I need to purchase it for the new one...
