Recovering Deleted File

Hey guys, i accidently deleted this file, and i need to know if there's a way to get it back without any third party software. is it really as simple as just enabling the view of C:RECYCLER and just going in to find it there?

P.S. - Ya, i did search.

Go to the trash bin, and drag'n drop it back, silly!

#467706

alright...i obviously didn't explain properly. i meant that it was already deleted...

FreeUndelete or PC Inspector File Recovery are two freeware apps that come to mind.

The more activity you do on your computer the less chance you have of a file being recovered.

i did mention i don't really want any third party apps...

Try Recover from the command console

Edit: That's most likely not going to work unless you're running from another drive.

naw...guess it's gone.

thanks anyways guys.

Only if Time Machine was for windows....But someday of course! :)

"Time Machine" is already on windows; "Previous Versions" if BS did what microsoft recomends by default and backed up his system, he could of got it back in a few clicks.

So, your talkin about System Restore right?

OR were there actually older versions of it runnig on windows?

#467752

No, I'm talking about "Previous Versions"

Back on Topic: What was the deleted file? A folder with files contained in it?

An image, or a doc? Hmmmmm. It Couldn't had been that hard to create it. So, make a new one..;)

I don't get why you're saying you don't want to try third-party apps. If I was in your place and had lost an important file, I would try pretty much every option I could find.

You could try Recuva. It usually works pretty well.

@siddharth; I was thinking the same thing, you can download/install/use a free app in the same amount of time and effort as it took to write and read this thread.

#467816

Naw, the file isn't important enough to do a system restore or use an app to do it.

@cwt, this didn't take much effort.

@cwt, this didn't take much effort.

my point exactly lol.
