{Help] Can Os X Be Installed On Linux
True, they've come up with a virtual machine of sorts to run OSX on Linux, but you have to realize that you need an underlying ppc architecture to make it work.
Meaning, Linux on PC (with its x86 architecture) will not run this puppy, sorry to say.
Thats not even news. It was reported some time ago.
And it isnt really worth for the most of us. I mean, what hardware do you have to run it on? The AmigaOne? The Pegasos? For a few people, this might actually might sense, like I am seriously considering to actually buy one of the above mentioned MBs since I am a hardcore AMIGA fan. To have AmigaOS (OS 4 is coming! :woot: ) , and Linux or MorphOs and Linux running on one box is quite compelling to me, if you can add OS X on that, the better.
But - look at the prices! i mean, you don't really get a bargain. It might even make more sense to get an Apple and set Linux up on the thing. It might even be *cheaper*. They charge like $ 600 for the MB, add a case and all the peripherals to that for a PPC with what? 600 Mhz?

a mac running linux that runs Mac OS? we're all going crazy :order:
Originally posted by Taha@Aug 6 2003, 04:14 PMIt only runs on Linuces installed on a mac.
And that requires the PPC chip, not intel/amd.
No, it doesn't, Taha. Though this is the most likely scenario.

MOL can run on non-Apple hardware. APUS hardware (Amiga PowerUp System) is currently unsupported, but work is in progress.
Since OS X runs only on MACs an MOL can run on non-MAC-hardware, MOL can be run on a linux on a non-MAC-hardware.
You need to install OS X in the virtual machine of MOL, though.

well, it doesn't run on x86 is what I meant. So you can't run it on Intel/AMD chips.
There are PPC chips other than the ones in Macs, so I guess you can still run it on them. ![]()
That's what my previous post is all about.
Yes, you can do it, but it hardly makes sense. It's either evaluation boards at ~ 4k$ or low-performance-at-high-costs boards for the leftovers of the AMIGA scene.
I'd be interested in the performance of OS X in MOL on one of these boards, though.

that would be nice if it used my 3000+ AMD processor, not some stupid G4 ( i dont agree with how fast they are or that the fastest personal computer is the new mac. the fastest personal computer is the sun my dad owns which COMES WITH 8 GB of ram and two 2.0 ghz processors.....)
i even know of some comps overclocked to around 3.5 on a 2.0 processor (freon cooled :surfer dude: )
Dont start another x86 VS PPC thread.
I don't have my fireman suit on yet.
OK THATS IT. IM STARTING TO GET PRETTY SICK OF THIS. I BET IT WAS DUCKIE. I KNEW HE WAS OUT TO GET ME.
THE POST COUNTS ARE BACK!!!
YOU WANT ME TO GO SCITZO, DONT YOU?!
On further inspection, you just upgraded the boards.
