How to make a website

I know this may sound very n00b, but it's the truth. I don't know how to make a website. In school they taught us how to make HTML documents on the notebloc/notepad, but for example, to make a webpage like aqua-soft, or a blog site, etc. I need a credit card, don't I? Pls help...

Thanx for any help :)

You need a host, and purchase a webdomain.

Or you can use free online hosts, that have quite a few limitations.

To make a blog site you can use Wordpress (www.wordpress.org), its easy to set up.

You can make your own themes/skins to juice up the look of the site.

Basic of knowledge of CSS would contribute to the look of your site.

http://www.w3schools.com/ is really good reference.

If you want less of a blog (wordpress) feel and more of a custom built site try looking into geting a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) site builder like DreamWeaver, or Microsofts Expression.

Also if you poke around theyre are alot of people/websites open to piggybacking users for theyre own site.

Well, if you get a decent host, your package will usually come with some sort of default forums you can install as well as have a somewhat basic website editor.

110mb.com gives you 2 gigs of space and you can install quite a few web-related utilities in your web space without much hassle.

actually if you are just starting get this. Its completely free and it has EVERYTHING. [XAMPP] - Its known as XAMPP. Its basically apache, which is hosting on your computer. You need to open ports in order for it to go out to the internet but if you just go to http://localhost you can see everything. It is all stored in HtDocs. I use it for practice and best part: NO WAITING FOR UPLOADS!

Note: Make sure you delete index.html and index.php so that it doesnt forward to the xampp folder.

As far as I know, (I dont have a mac) you can only use the templates given to you by Apple. So it really isnt customizable. Does it even have an area where you can just code? If it does yeah its good but I STRONGLY suggest dreamweaver or if you want a free option and low RAM usage I suggest Notepad++. It has every language, well at least like 50 of them.

Boog, are you talking free or paid hosting? I might drop you an email about it later anyway. What would one get, and for how much?

Thanks,
