Deleted items returns back by itself!

eh.. due to the fact that i m not using some of the programs i placed on startup, so i decided to delete them. but the problem is. everytime i restart my computer, these shortcuts REappear back to the startup folder. i tried removing it with msconfig but the results is the same. the shortcut just returns back by itself.... i uninstalled the program and the shortcut somehow just appear by itself!

the other minor problem, not sure if it is linked but. whenever ichanged the program to be used for a file. "lets say. bmp is supposed to be opened with macromedia fireworks. but i changed it to windows fax viewer and applied.. it should stay there and make the default software to windows fax viewer. HOWever, when i restart my computer, it just returns back to the default of fireworks!

eh... somehow my settings always returns back to the way it started. i cant change them!. is it due to windows unable to save my settings? why cant it do that? need help desperately!

1) You can't just manually delete the shortcut of some programs in the startup folder. You have to run the program and tell it to stop coming back on startup. For example, if you decide to remove Limewire from startup. Don't just delete the startup icon. Run Limewire and go to tools or options, and uncheck the 'start with windows' option or something like that. I hope it will work.

2) Some programs do have protection in case their file associations are taken away by newly-installed programs, like WinAmp. Right-clicking and changing the association in explorer won't work, the associations will come back after reboot. You need to run that program (again) and tell it to stop doing that. There should be some options to be checked/unchecked.

Sounds like you are running under a normal user account.

Fireworks has no setting to remove itself from default application for any file extensions. You'll have to do that manually. Right click on any BMP and click OPEN WITH. The choose Window Picture and Fax Viewer, BUT..on the bottom of that screen is a checkbox that says ALWAYS OPEN THIS EXTENSION WITH..blah blah..check that!

if you already tried that with checking that box then try this.

open regedit using your run command

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.bmp

and delete any keys associated with Fireworks or other application that you DONT want to use this file type with. You'd notice under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT there will be a HUGE list of file extensions, do the same for all that you wish.

i have discovered that the problems is due to installation of objectbar 1.6 =.=

not sure why but after installing it it causes these problems! any help? uninstalling has no use.
