mainly i want to convert all of my avi files to mpg (VCD) format. Can you guys suggest me the best converter which can do this job efficiently?

I'd second two of the reccomended, ive got both total video converter, it can also take the audio of a film and make it into a mp3 etc, and it also can convert almost ALL types of video...and WinAvi is a nice little programme, if you want to do mp4 or SGP thoguh you have to get a different converter just incase you needd to know
