Searchplugin in FF 2

Changing the Googleicon or whatever in FF 1.5 was easy, but how do I do that in FF 2? In the folder "searchplugins" there are just .xml files...

Can someone help?

I think there is a URI in the .XML-file. Change it to the URI to the pic you want.

Example from my own searchplugin:

http://goox.se/ffsearch2/goox.png

Nope, sorry... There is no such line in my searchplugin. I have read some mods on this forum, but they seem to be issuing skins that has been made for FF 1.5 and then upgraded to FF2.

I use the latest FF 2.0.0.5 with the Vitae-skin found on Deviantart.

Any other ideas?

Ooh, looks like they've made this significantly more difficult! I suppose there must be some advantage--probably speed.

Ballena's method may still work...there's definitely a line in the .XML file that says at least this much:

<Image width="16" height="16">

See if you can use Ballena's solution.

If not, check out the following link, and look in the "Image" section. You'll still have to edit the XML file, however.

Hope this helps,

is the URI to the Icon. Paste the above text into your browser and you will see.

I don't know if you can link to your own Icon locally as you could with FX1.5 but

you can upload your own Icon anywhere on the Internet and make the URL to

the Icon to a URI and than replace it with the default URI in your search.xml. You

can convert URL>URI here

#465838

Yepp... I made it... I used the URL > URI converter and the icon is now to my liking. Thanks a million for all the help!!!

Best regards!!!

No problems. :)

#465844

I didn't get this..?

If I want it to display this picture http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/5504/googleks8yq6.png, what do I do?

#467214

Follow the link: http://software.hixie.ch/utilities/cgi/data/data

Browse for your image to use and click OK. Copy the very long path and paste it as shown in the posts above. Just find out exactly where it´s supposed to be.

After that it will work

So I take it from your casual explanation that I'm only suppose to hit the browse button, select my image and press generate, copy paste the link into (replacing the existing tag) C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxsearchpluginsgoogle.xml like this:

Well, I can only speak for myself... I did just that and it worked for me....

Really sorry if that didn´t work for You. I just followed the instructions above.
