Album order in itunes

hey guys:

i just inherited a mac mini at work. i copied over my mp3's and added my music folder into itunes. all is hunky dory. one thing puzzles me, though...

in windows, when sorting by album, numbers come before letters. in osx, when sorting by album, numbers come after letters. for example, in windows, the beatles album '1' is listed first. in osx, it's after the frank zappa album 'zoot allures.'

is this behavior normal? is it configurable? in osx, that is.

thx!

this is a new change in the most recent release of itunes. to fix it you need to down-grade to an older release

I think that is something that was changed in iTunes 7.3. I'm still on 7.2 on Mac and symbols and numbers come before letters respectively. So, I don't think it's configurable, yet.

Edit: I lost the race :(

:D

Actually, if you want it to display differently, you can just edit the "sort options" for the individual tracks. Right click on the song and go to the "sorting" tab, and then enter what you want in the "sort album" field. However, by default in 7.3 numbers come after letters so if you want the album "1" to be on top, you might have to experiment with special characters. You could also have it be sorted as "One". This is a handy feature but it has a downside - you have to do it on a per-track basis, as the sort tab isn't visible when you get info for multiple items.

thx everyone. downgrading to 7.2 cleared that up for me.
