[release] Latest nAMP Builds

Please do not post in this thread!

If you have any comments, questions, feature requests, or bug reports, please post in the other nAMP thread. Thank you kindly! :)

Current release version: v0.2.18

=======================

+ Add files dialogue: add single files and entire directories at once!

+ You can now delete multiple files at once; shift- or ctrl- click all the files and then hit 'delete'.

~ Fixed 'divion by zero while adding song info to library' bug.

~ Changed 'Discard' button in 'Get Info' dialogue to 'Cancel'.

=======================

Unless some new major bug pops up, I deem that this release makes nAMP 'usable'. :rolleyes:

[Edit]

If anyone wants a link that will always points to the latest version, you can link to it at http://home.comcast.net/~mithrandel/nAMP.zip.

#44960

Current release version: v0.2.21

=======================

~ Added a new message qeue, so that nAMP doesn't hog the system on start up.

~ Added a few low-level error checking routines.

=======================

Hopefully, this will fix the start up crashes some of you have been reporting. If not, then I'll have to brainstorm another fix. >.<

#45012

Current release version: v0.2.23

=======================

+ Added a preliminary skinning engine to nAMP. Duckie has already released an iTunes 4 skin, which you can get here.

~ Updated the way the controls are drawn.

~ Changed the way mouse-clicks are detected. Mouse detection is less 'iffy' in certain circumstances (while grabbing the scroll bar, for example).

=======================

skyliner34 has noticed that, while nAMP crashes if he has any CDs (Audio or Data) in his drives, if he runs the program with the CDs removed, it runs just fine. All of you who are experiencing the 'Crash on load' error might want to try this out. totorox adds that you need not only get rid of yor CDs, your mounted images as well.

#45116

Current release version: v0.2.40

=======================

+ Updated the nAMP skinning engine to allow for two fixes to skins - the search bar background can now be correctly placed, and the volume bar widget can now have a mousedown state. Duckie is no doubt hard at work implementing these two fixes into his iT4 skin.

+ Added a basic 'preferences' window (not much to look at, yet, but the base code is in there). CD support is now disabled by default - if you have been playing CDs fine up until now, you can enable it by right clicking on the song list and selecting 'preferences'.

+ Support for basic unicode.

+ Added header resizing

+ nAMP now remembers its last position on screen, last size, and last volume level.

+ Added 'data' folder to clean up base nAMP folder.

~ Implemented error catching routines all throughout the initial library building action.

=======================

Remember, keep those bug reports coming!

#46016

Current release version: v0.2.41 - [Get it here!].

=======================

~ Fixed bug from v0.2.40 where nAMP would ignore the first character of some entries.

~ Fixed bug where nAMP could 'hang' while importing an MP3 file of exactly 1 byte in size.

~ Fixed bug where nAMP would improperly read unicode tags for the title in ID3v2 tags.

=======================

This is the *fixed* version.

#46047

Current release version: v0.3.12 -[Get it here!].

Sorry for making you guys wait so long for this. It's well worth the wait, I promise you! With numerous bug fixes and stability increases, nAMP is better than ever! Now all it needs is Duckie's new default skin - but Duckie's unavailable, so I thought I'd give you all this version to tide you over.

Remember, you can still skin nAMP by simply replacing the 'resource.dat' file in your nAMP directory with a different version of the file. However, it's possible that Duckie's latest skin (for v0.3.3) might not work in this version, so you might have to wait a bit for his skin.

It is recommended that you allow nAMP to rebuild its library from scratch - do not import your old /Data folder!

=======================

Change log:

++ CD Importing now works! To import a CD, first go into your preferences and enable CD access (it would probably be a good idea to enable freeCDDB access as well, as this will allow nAMP to automatically grab track information from the internet). Right now, the only quality level you can import at is 192kbs, but in the next build, you'll have multiple quality levels to choose from!

+ Improved preferences menu - with a beautiful combo box demonstration! (Thanks Jef). BTW, the preferences menu is still 90% non-functional, so no bug reports about it, please.

+ You can select what you want nAMP to do when you insert a CD - play it, import it, and so on.

+ WinFX Shadow support (the minor artifacts in the lower corners will be fixed as soon as I can manage). (Thanks Jef)

+ Search function now works in playlists.

+ New RightClickMenu class - check out the differences between the new class (in the song list) and the old class (in the source menu). This is not a bug; the new class just hasn't been tied into the source menu yet!

* Cleaned up and recompiled the mp3 encoding dll and the CD ripping dll.

* Fixed redraw issue when closing a right-click menu - would leave a small opaque 'box' behind for 1/10 of a second.

* If the current playing song was selected (the play buttons displayed 'pause') and nAMP switched to a new song, the play button would not change to 'play' until the user moused over nAMP. This is now fixed.

* nAMP will no longer eat the 'th's in songs (no idea where this one came from).

* CDs now play the entire way through.

* Fixed bug where the y positions of the various dialogue boxes would usually default to '0' on screen resolutions less than 1280x1024.

* Fixed 'Subscript out of range' error when collecting library data for zero songs (why nAMP would want to get data from zero songs is beyond me... blame the programmer, not the app. :D)

* Volume levels now range from 0% to 100% of the total system volume - before, nAMP's max volume was limited to 40% of the total system volume.

* Fixed bug where deleting the current playing song, if it was in the extended selection, would attempt to delete it twice, crashing the program.

* If you're actually reading these, bless your heart. Here's a bit of extra info for you dedicated readers - I'm going to be taking the next day or two off to work on something in the same vein as nAMP, yet totally, refreshingly different. While this 'nSecret' won't be available right away, it's still something to look forward to.

* Results from freeCDDB queries now automatically refresh the CD track titles; previously, you had to manually update them by selecting another source besides the inserted CD, and then clicking on the CD again.

* Tracks that have never been played will now display their last played entry as 'Never' instead of "December 30, 1899"

* Replaced the guts of the getspectrum engine - the status window's visuals will now appear less intense, but falloff will be accurately modeled. I'm working to see if I can mix the two systems. BTW, just like another media player we know of, now when you pause, the spectrum disappears and the falloff gradually falls off. Now, I don't have access to a copy of this other media player, so someone will have to tell me - did I get it right or not?

* Updating your library used to screw up your playlists - but NO MORE! This was a particularly evil, nasty bug that tried to hide itself... but when I found it, I smacked it straight into /dev/null with all his nasty friends! FEAR ME, BUGS!

=======================

Known Issues (besides what's already in the bug reports):

<>Tracks that fail to import from a CD improperly still display as having successfully completed.

<>If you close a dialogue window, but move the mouse across it while it is unloading, it will reload itself. This extends to the right click menus as well. :( As a temporary fix, make sure you don't move your mouse erratically while closing Dialogue windows.

<>nAMP does not yet write track numbers to imported music.

<>After you import music, if you have to rebuild your library, nAMP will include all imported songs twice. As a temporary fix, move the music in the /*nAMP/Import/ directory to a new location should you need to rebuild your library.

<>nAMP only supports the first 256 characters of Unicode. Any foreign characters in a song's entries will not display correctly (kind of defeats the purpose of Unicode, neh?)

=======================

Skin Engine updates:

+ Border sizes are now customizable.

+ Corner sizes are now customizable.

+ Colors are now customizable throughout most of application (I've already changed 300 of the 450 color calls in the application, the rest will follow in the next build or two).

#47243

Current release version: v0.3.16 -[Get it here!].

=======================

Change log:

+ Mouse wheel support

+ Support for user-made skins (use the 'nSkin' application). New, fast loading format for the skin files.

* more error handling for when the application is closing.

* CDs now rip faster, and any issues with the ripping icons not showing should be fixed.

#48416

Sadly, I just started College this week, so I don't have much time to work on programming. Give me a week or two to settle in. :rolleyes:

Hell, by the time I get back, maybe Apple will have an iTunes demo out. :boob shake: We'll see.
