ShellTrayInfo - Arrange your tray icons

If you're a neat-freak like me, you appreciate being able to arrange and order everything exactly the way you want. This goes for your tray icons as well.

I've lately grown quite fond of the little freeware app shelltrayinfo, which enables you to do just that. It is a stand-alone app, meaning you run it once to arrange your tray icons and then just close it again. I've been getting great results with it, although you usually have to run it again after a couple of restarts.

If you are more of a realtime-guy, TrayWizard (also freeware) does the exact same thing, only in realtime. Unfortunately, I just found the constant re-ordering of the tray icon area a little distracting, which is why I tend to use the above.

Hopefully, someone will find this as useful as I did.

It doesn't work for me. When i start the app there are no icons in the list. i have tried to refresh the list but with no results.

I just came across the latest version (July '07) of the fantabulous taksbarshuffle, and guess what: It now supports realtime dragging of tray icons! Simply hold the Ctrl-key when dragging. Sweet.

The only issue I've come across is a slight ghosting if you use transparency on your taskbar (Transbar, AlphaXP etc.).
