Okay, so I already made another thread about my spinning beachball problem in OS X, and no matter what, I fix EVERYTHING with my system and spend hours tweaking everything, but there's only one conclusion I can come to. My dock is borked.
See screenshot: http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/959/picture2fu9.jpg
Here's how it goes: I log in, and my trash dock icon looks like that. When I put something in the trash, the trash icon appears as normal. When I empty my trash, I get a normal empty trash icon. But, I get a few beachballs during the process where the active app freezes, I can still move my mouse over the dock and watch the icons magnify. But: when I right click the active app to force quit it, the dock hangs and then the entire system hangs for a good 15-20 seconds, before it registers the right click. Activity monitor doesn't show any hangs, I went through each process (in All Processes, not just My Processes) one by one and viewed its info and "recent hangs" data. Every process after several beachballs still appeared to be not hanging.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get my dock associating initially with the correct icon? I've got my fingers crossed on you guys being able to pull me through this. Anything anyone can throw in would be helpful at this point, because I'm at my wits end with the system hanging every minute or two.

I attempted to use CandyBar to change my Trash icon, which probably started this whole thing. Gaah, I'm not even going to bother customizing my computer after all this trouble, default is pretty enough as is, haha.
