Leopard Sidebar tutorial for FindeXer and Styler

After many requests for information on how to set up the Leopard Sidebar in FindeXer, here is a simple step by step tutorial - aimed at the Junior to Medium skill emulator.

This tutorial works in partnership with the Leopard Styler application

Excellent work, Raats! Very detailed walkthrough. I only have one question, though ... I'm not sure what font you are using.

Cheers Mate!!

I tend to use Mac orientated fonts like Lucida Grande or Tahoma amongst others.

It all depends on what weight and style I want to show...

Very nice tutorial! Thanks a lot!

even though i hate the new apple finder in leopard, this is an excellent tutorial.

Now if Tom would just create collapsing effects it would look so cool.

I can't see the options that you talk about.

Edit:

I reinstalled the latest Nightly build and now I see the options

BUT

FindeXer doesn't show automatically everytime I open Explorer, is there anyway to fix this??

ALSO

I have QTTabBar installed and whenever I click on any of the shortcuts on FindeXer it opens up a new tab (which can be pretty annoying). Anyway to fix this too?

That can happen!

A way around that problem is to target your explorer icon at another folder - then it will work.

Make a folder on your desktop (ie. applications). In your dock item properties or your icon properties, aim the shortcut at that folder - C:Applications.

You can make shortcuts to the applications you use a lot of - in that folder and you can then navigate anywhere else on your system by using the sidebar.

For QTTabBar take a look here... maybe that will help http://www.osx-e.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2900

Actually I alway open up Explorer by holding [Win]+E so I guess I am out of luck to automatically show FindeXer?

hexdj, yeah, unfortunately using WIN+E always shows folders tree. You'll have to use the icons...

That thing of opening FindeXer shortcuts in a new tab is a strange error... i had no problem at all with FindeXer & QTTB... Anyway i've been looking in the options looking for a way to help u, but i had no luck, it doesn't seems to be a QTTB issue.

hey Linwe thanks for looking into it. I actually found a way around it

I went to Tools > Folder Options > File Types

and from the Registered File Types I picked "Folder"

Then clicked on the Advanced button and in the actions I clicked on Open and then click on the "Set as Default" button

That did the trick!
