iTunes crashing

Yeah, I know I could search, and I did on google, but I didn't really find anything.

After having this problem with iTunes 7.2, I updated to 7.3, and it persists. Here it is:

I start iTunes, and almost immediately, the CPU usage rockets to 95%, 98%, or 99%. I can use it for a little bit; I can start it, play a song or podcast, but it will usually crash (in the form of freezing) soon after.

I uninstalled Safari, because I read something saying that that would work, but obviously, no dice.

Please help.

well.. you could try uninstalling all apple software on your computer such as quicktime, softwware update, safari and itunes, restart and try again...

That didn't do anything.

This is driving me crazy.

I listen to music all the time, and now it's silent.

I can't work. :(

itunes is pretty heavy... whats your speed?

Have you tried downgrading iTunes? You can uninstall and find older versions on OldVersion.com.

-NC

Yeah, I downloaded the Special release, with Multi-plugin, still not working.

@coldwerturkey: What? Where would I find that?

(windows I'm assuming) just your processer speed, (start menu, rightclick "mycomputer", "properties" x.xxGHz)

My old computer (-1.00GHz) could only handle winamp, my itunes crashed just as your describing,

Well, I've been an iTunes user on the same computer since the days of old (4.1), so I don't know... I've only recently had this problem, but can't think of an event that could have caused it.

My processer speed is 2.66Ghz
