Anyone Wanna Trade? Please :)

I guess this is a long shot, but hey I gotta try. I want to get a mac so bad but don't have any money for one. I have a nice WinTel PC that I would be willing to trade with someone for a mac. Here are the specs on my machine and if you'd like to trade please email me.

What I have:

Compaq 5000 Series (colorful ones)

677mhz Celeron

256mb RAM

30gig HD space

DVD-ROM

CD-RW

4 USB Ports

ATI TV Wonder VE Video Input card

nVidia GeForce 4 MX 420 64meg graphics card w/tv out

Windows XP Pro (decked out to look like OSX)

What I want:

Any iMac, iBook, G3, Powerbook or anything else that is from fairly the same era as my PC (Early 2001). I just want a mac so bad I'm willing to trade for pretty much any mac as long as it has a decent amount of memory and can run OSX without too much slowdown.

To the moderator please don't take this message down...I know it's not strictly about mac hardware, but if I find somebody to trade with then my posts will be.

Does anyone at least know where I can try to find some people to talk to about trading? Like a good mac site with popular forums?

No offence but any Mac you could obtain in trade for that PC would be so archaic it would never run OS X....your best bet would be to sell the PC in your local paper as a basic Internet/E-mail/Word Processing computer and hope you could get three or four hundred dollars for it from someone not familar with todays values...take the money and search Ebay for an old G3 or maybe a clamshell iBook. They would run X barely.....

Internet Email Wordprocessor?!?! HAHAHAHAHA

I see people these days buying 2.5ghz machine to check their email and play mp3z and manage a budget....

I do heavy duty 3D graphics rendering and video editing/compositing on this machine. I do things with this computer most people don't do with machines 5 times as fast and it does them very well. I know lots of mac people want PCs, just like PC people want macs (grass is always greener syndrome) so I dont' see why someone wouldn't want to trade a baseline mac from around 2001 for a heavily modified and upgraded PC from around 2001.

Try Spymac Forums. They have a classifieds section.

Be warned, they aren't always PC friendly there though, so you may get a few unpleasant comments. If you jump back at them, they'll just ignore your post, so take them in good humour and you may find a deal.

Good luck. If you get no luck, then maybe Ebay? :)
