The Future of Avedesk

Maybe something like WebClip would seriously entice (new) users to use AveDesk.

I have no problems on vista?...

I agree with the stance on not having it open source. I'm in no hurry to use vista but I do think that making it completely compatible with vista and bug free is needed. My only hope is that it wouldn't become bloated and a resource hog like so many other things that are filled with useless crap.

What's the outcome

What decisions are being taken in this regard

Would development and support continue with a vista compatible, bug free Avedesk 2.0 ?

PCM - could you please make a statement on this seemingly yet unsettled issue? (assuming you're in charge)

Open Source is safe for my opinion if you release under a good licence and/or don't release the whole source code. I think you should release the source code for the desklets, but not for the core even if i'm an open source supporter :P

Just find an good liscence - how do you spell this word ??? - (GPLv3 is a no-no) and hide some code that can be show in an hex editor so we can prrove it's Ave's (any maybe someone other) work ;)

That way we can all contribute to a better AveDesk :D

I'm not in charge of avedesk.

But my opinion is that if you "Drop" a free software and if people are still "using" it and want new features, then release the code. Whats the point of keeping it if you don't care for it.

On that note, it all depends on Andreas, its his project. If he still wants to work on it, but is working very slow cause he's too busy, then you'll have to be patient. But if you want to contribute, then ask him directly for the code. In a nice way. (Include the word please)

If people ask me for the code for avescripter (Delphi) I have no problem in showing it to them and all I ask is to be told about any new changes first.
