I need to know if anyone here knows the registry entry to turn on windows menu shadows. The checkbox in System>Advanced>blah, blah refuses to stay checked. None of my start menus are getting shaded with WinFX unless this is enabled.
[help] Windows Menu Shadow Setting..
man, it's bad that we can't really help you. i've looked through the registry, but i couldn't find it.
maybe you can try enabling it several ways:
1) through display properties, under the appearance tab, and "effects."
2) then system --> advanced, etc.
it should be the same, but i don't know why it won't work. sorry.
You can't use winfx in conjunction with xp's own menu shadows without a few hicuppppps. I changed my whole registry concerning shadow code and made existing values all 1's to have menushadows enabled as default.
Winfx still does it's own thing no matter what shadow settings you have...
If you think the problem is in your registry, try searching for 'menushadow'.
There should be around 4 instances of it... if 'menushadow' doesn't work, try just 'shadow'. If this doesn't work:
Try uninstalling and reinstalling winfx...
It's worked for me in the past.
Hopefully this helps a bit. ![]()
Cheers
All fixed now, windows still refuses to do it's thing but I re-installed WinFX and it's gone back to working. Thanks for the help guys.
