I'm not too familiar with Yahoo Site builder, but if you can, try to unify the color scheme. a bit. Cut out anything unnecessary like the chat. Try to stick to using 2 fonts and don't use bold/itallic in excess. Those are just some basic tips. I suggest you learn some html and google some info on creating a good website.

ditch the widgets. if people want to contact you, throw your email on the page instead

the headers blindingly bright

ok thanks. I'll probably change the header/buttons to the same color scheme as my blog...

Also, How would i center the stuff on my page, so it's always in the middle no matter what the screen resolution. My blog is built with wordpress and it does this automatically, any help on having my regular site do this?

why do you say that? I seem to think bold of the same font looks more uniform..

I made a test page and made some changes, check it out and tell me what you think

Bold isn't bad. Just don't overuse it. Also, for body copy, stick to classic fonts as they are designed specifically to be very pleasant to read. For the headers/ or identity design feel free to go nuts.

Re: Your new version:

Some minor changes you can make:

  • Change the background image to a solid color or more unified pattern. Maybe use a very light green color (#EAFFAF)
  • Change the color of the "Breaking News" text to a dark blue or even white.
  • Shorten the "Breaking News" topics to 3 or 5 if possible.
  • Get rid of the "What I am doing" window.
  • Maybe lose the comments section until you start getting a bit more traffic on the site.
  • You could probably also get rid of the blog and have him use the news section instead for that as well as general news.
  • Lose the "Sponsorship" page and put that info at the top or bottom of the "Sponsors" page.
  • Make the header a bit wider to match the width of your top links. (If you get rid of a few of the pages I suggested you shouldn't need to resize the header.
  • I can't tell because of the preview's detail level, but if there's text over the image in the header, get rid of it. It'll be cleaner.

Thanks alot. The what I am doing section I wil probably leave because it is very easy for me to update at my motodcros races (this is my site and it makes it easier if i don't have to bring all the website files with me everyweekend. It is much easier to go to twitter.com and make a quick update.) The blog I will also leave because the website is strictly for racing. I like to use to blog for motocross and all my other interests. My motocross visitors don't want to hear about the iphone, etc. etc. I will make the header wider. And yes there is text over the header image. This is just a mock up. I'm getting a high res version without the watermark from the photographer.
