Automount positioning

relatively new to the mac emulation... but I used my sister's mac for a couple weeks while my windows was in the shop (haha... windows) and i was addicted to the visual style and ease of use. ive figured out most things, but what im trying to emulate is where when you connect a device (ipod, portable HD, flash drive) an icon pops up on the desktop, but only when connected.

automount seems to work, but now if drive G connects before drive E, its not at the top, but somewhere down the side of the screen, as to allot room for if drives E and D were to be connected. is there any script i can use to make the first connected to be at position X, the 2nd connected to be at position Y etc?

just a confirmation, is no one responding because no one knows... or has no one read this?

just wondering If I should try to experiment with coding myself...

I don't think anyone knows :(. However, this is probably something that's pretty hard to code yourself.

What happens if you select "Snap to grid" for arranging your desktop icons?
