Spam, [Bulk], and Microsoft Outlook

/07.02.07 image removed, cleaning out my server

Its starting to get ridiculous. 2-3 emails a day, I know thats not alot and some people are hitting 15-20+ a day, but this is my private email (@rogers.com) adress that I'm paying for, not either one of my public ones. Can anyone fill me in on what "[bulk]" is all about. And what some options are to stop this, I use outlook'07 is their any sort of blocker/filter that I can block any incoming mail with "[bulk]" in the title? I don't remeber entering my email into any site where it could of been sold, so I have no idea where it even came from...

Often the spammers use address generators that create email addresses and then use the created list as a mass mailing target. even if 90% of the addresses are bogus, usually at least 10% are real, and when you spam 10million addresses, 10% is already a lot. I know cause a lot of spam I used to get had multiple receivers that were alphabetically connected to my address (ie. peskar, peskas, peskat, peskau etc.)

Then my University installed spam assassin on their mail server and most of the spam got blocked. Bulk was one of the first filters.

"[bulk]" is just how Outlook marks spam messages in the Junk folder. They're already going there, so just remember to empty the folder occasionally.

And don't feel so bad. I get at least 600 spam emails a day. I have no idea why. But Gmail does an excellent job of filtering them.
