desktop icons + performance issue

Hi at all, hope this is the right section for this thread... :P

So, I'm new to avedesk and I love this app! Its perfect - on my pc. But on my laptop I have a problem.

When avedesk is turned on and I want to drag an explorer window to another place, the window stuck and it feels like having 100% CPU usage. But when I turn off Avedesk everything is fine - the window dragging is fine. I tried everything. no sublabels, ... Nothing worked. Than I got the idea of hiding the desktop icons with windows (right klick on desktop, arrange icons and disable "show desktop symbols") and tada - window draging is fine again.

That is really confusing, because I formated the laptop 1 month ago and I also do defrag it every two weeks. My PC instead is totaly messed up - Trying out so much things on it, but avedesk is running very tight on it. *irritated* :P

Maybe some hardware facts are helpfull...

My PC:

Pentium 4 (3 GHz)

Ati Radeon 9800 Pro (128 mb)

1,5 GB RAM

My laptop:

Intel Centrino (1,7 GHz)

Ati Mobility something^^ (64 mb)

1 GB RAM

I hope someone can help me with this. I want to use avedesk on my laptop but I need my standart windows desktop icons :)

Bye the way, I tried out that tool that comes with avedesk, which creates a desklet for each icon, but thats not what i want ;)

Please Help!

Greetings from germany

Sounds like a graphics card problem perhaps? Wish I could be of more help. I'm sure someone else might have a better idea but I'd go with the graphics card not being up to snuff.

Bis spater.

Thanks for the response. Probably your right.

I tried another thing: I used the tool in avedesk to hide the desktop icons when avedesk is started. So, i expected it would have the same good effect like hiding the icons with the windows build in function like I said in the first post. But the performance still sucked. Maybe there's some config thing in avedesk what causes this prob....?!

What happens if you run AveDesk with no desklets? Do you see the same problem as if you still had desklets?

Good idea - I tried it out and the problem is gone.

But running avedesk without desklets is not what i want^^.

I've already tested it with only one desklet - still bad :(

More sugestions? :)
