They say that I can still download my files - does anyone know how? I stored many themes there (not on my HD) and they are locked up there.
This is tragic news...why are the off topic posts more important than THIS one?

I understand their reasons, but they do make it quite clear that this shutdown is only temporary while they drum up some more funds. So it's nothing to worry about too much, although it's sad that they have to do this in the first place.
My thanks to the crew at Deskmod for the past few years, and wish them (and the site) a healthy future and speedy recovery.
Wow. Unbelievable...like everyone else, I hope to see them up and running again soon. I know without them, many of our modders would have no place to host their work. Hope to see you back at it soon, guys!

Wow; didn't see this coming. I've always found Deskmod an incredibly useful site, and I just hope they can get some more funds soon. Go on; buy a Deskmod T-Shirt 
how come they have dt2 (which is a very respected community) and not aqua-soft in their links?
a/s has been around for ages and dt2 is barely half a year.

desk mod u will be missed, my only other alternative was deviant and too many people use it now so their bandwidth is stretched to the limit which makes their site unbearably slow 
wow, hopefully all is ok and they'll be up and running soon. i used to go there quite often, and was even a member. a great resource and community.
I was impressed by the way they layed out their reasons for closing without attacking ANYONE or asking for donations. They just presented what life difficulties stood in their way.
