IconPackager 2? I have Iconpackager 2.03 Enchanced version!!! How the heck do you do it? I dont see any options! 
I also tried windowsfx. It works but it makes the desktop icons static 48x48. What I need is for my explorer icons to be 48x48 and my desktop icons to be larger, 72x72. Im gonna start searching for a program that will allow me to do this.
Icon Packager does not have any such settings other that making all icons bigger. You can do that with the Display Properties.
There is an option in Window FX 2.0, however, this only is useful if you want 32 pixel icons in explorer and 48 pixel icons on the Desktop. Warning... this option is for XP only.
I personally have 72 pixel set on my XP machine throughout but then again I have a 19" monitor @ 1280X960@100Hz 
On my eMac, it's 96 Pixels for the desktop and 72 pixels for the finder windows.
If you have a resolution of 1024X768 or less, that 48 pix option might be good enough for you.

I thought I would post the answer for you.
Run Regedit
Find the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
Under this key there is be a key called "Shell Icon Size"
Change that to the desired size, the default is 32.
Save the registry.
Then open "Display Properties"
Go to the "Appearance" tab, then select "Advanced".
Scroll down to "Icon", it will display 72. Which is fine.
Then select "Ok" and then "Ok" again once back at the "Appearance" panel.
Window will do it's thing, displaying "Please wait". Once that is complete the dekstop icons will be displayed at the size that was specified during the registry change.
The only somewhat negative side effect of this change is that "Start Menu" icons will also be larger. One can override this, if one likes, by going into "Start Menu Properties" and selecting "small icons"
That's it.

One way you can do it is set the icon size to how you want it and then in the folderst set the view to be something other than icon, like.. tile or list.
Probably not the perfect solution but it is one.
Personally I set my icons to be 64 pixels and I have a 1280x1024 size desktop.
I'd however like to see a program that would let you change it to over 48 just on the desktop.
Ya, that tile thing I have been doing, but I am still finding myself wanting icons instead of tiles. Im sure I will find something soon.

I disagree. There must be a way to program it somehow. There is something called editing the shell I believe. Besides it has already been done with windowsfx, it just didnt have the correct sizes that were needed. But it did accomplish getting the desktop icons 48x48 and the explorer icons whatever you want them to be. Now if windowsfx had just programed it so you could have your desktop icons remain 72x72 instead of 48x48 then we would have been golden. 
yeah, try talisman, it can place your desktop icons in the desktop of talisman, and you select the size, I managed to make it, but I havent installed talisman, since i formatted my computer yesterday.

No aaronsam, it wouldn't. And it shouldn't. I'm sure someone could wip up a very simple, small program that would allow this.
Call me dumb but I'm not sure exactely what you're looking for. I have large dektop icons (72) and smaller explorer icons (32) which also show up as those sizes in my dialog boxes and the big icons show in the start menu, favorites etc. I also have different drive icons for each HDD and I can show folder contents in either 32 or 72 depending on whether I specify small or large icons for the display.
I've got a screenie here, if this resembles what you're looking for iconsize-wise let me know and I'll set you up with the right goodies.

Its hard to tell what size icons you have there, because of the dark color, but I can tell that I would like to have different size icons for the desktop and explorer. (ie) big icons on the desktop and smaller icons in the windows explorer. Then again, I dont think it really matters. Soon, we'll all be using jefs amazing finder application exclusively, once he completes it. I'm sure there will be an icon size option for it.
