wikipedia does not load

i can't get wikipedia to load at all! The problem crept up this morning, i haven't made any changes and it stopped loading.

i don't think it's possible to be banned (and i haven't done anything at all except read) and i've tried restarting the internet connection, clearing private data from firefox, restarting firefox, restarting the computer, and using ie7.

Bottom line is, i can't use it unless i try through a proxy. What possible reason could this be for? My firewall is not blocking anything, my router, while tempermental hasn't been known to block individual sites, and there isn't anything else i can think of.

being 99, i need the site for a lot of school work and it's a major hold up to wait ages for a proxy which may or may not load the page.

strangely, yes. but what could the reason have been? i tried using my router's interface to ping them too, the server didn't reply.

i've never heard of 1 site simply not loading..

ok, strange new problem. I try the cyanide and happiness site and all i get is an adsense page? I've checked my system with ad-aware, kaspersky, and spybot search and destroy. None of them have found anything but some tracking cookies.

what the heck is happening to my browser?!?
