I realize I'm going to sound like a complete idiot, but please forgive me. I only discovered this whole range of widgets/docklets/desklets and so forth day before yesterday and am still quite bewildered and baffled by most of it.
Currently, I have installed AveDesk 1.3, AveScripter, and SysStats 2.5.11.
To the problem... Yesterday I found the Longhorn Clock/Calendar on deviantART at judge's page, which changes its top image monthly. I liked it, have needed a clock and calendar on my desktop for some time, and as a digital artist was going to make my own images for the monthly ones to suit my personal tastes. My desktop wallpaper is mostly black, and so the default configuration of the LhC/C did not show up very well against it.
As previously mentioned, I know practically nothing about what I am looking at. I have read the "help" section that came with SysStats over and over, but it makes about as much sense to me now as if I had never read it. I did figure out by tinkering on my own that in the Overlays tab, I can change the appearance of some things, but all the different overlay types are hard to understand.
By clicking around in the list of items to the right, I found that I could format individual things. I now have the clock looking exactly as I want it to, and have also adjusted the calendar background to be NON-visible, and have changed the color and opacity of the "frame" of the calendar to match the rest of the desktop. I think tried affecting the font face, size, style and color of the numbers and words displayed on the calendar. I also found that I could make the numbers - which I had changed to white - have a black outline of sorts by setting the blur color to black and the blur itself to about a value of "3". Because I adjusted the size of the numbers, they overlapped some, so I used the "draw at" values to adjust where they sat on the calendar. I then also had to use the "draw at" values to move the day-highlighting box called the "marker" to the appropriate position.
I did each number and word one by one. Unfortunately, after I'd gotten everything to look how I wished it to, midnight arrived, the day changed, and suddenly half the font formatting I had done vanished, the "marker" became misaligned once more, and I realized I had a problem.
So my question is this: what exactly must I do to configure the fonts of the calendar how I would like it in a way it will REMAIN that way after changing its date every night? I do not know what all the overlay classes mean, or what to click, or what to type. I know nothing. Please pretend you are talking to someone who knows, well, nothing, because that's what I know here.
Additionally, is there a tutorial other than the SysStats "help" pages that I could read that would help someone dumb to this learn how to customize widgets/desklets/docklets to my preference in the future?
I appreciate any and all help, thank you! These customization programs are really fabulous and I'm loving them so far. I just know I need help with this particular one.
