[NSFW] Photoshop Effect

Hey guys, i was wondering if someone could give a tutorial on how to get this affect:

Just a quick guide if possible, appreciate it. The wallpaper is done by madcaddy.

Ok, here goes, as best as I can. This guide is for photoshop, as it is the only editor I know my way around with. As it seems, madcaddy makes use of 2 types of gradients, a little bit of brush, and clever use of opacity (transparency). All of which are done in separate layers.

1. Prepare the source (color) image by de-saturating it first. This will make it "black & white"-ish . (Image>Adjust>Desaturate)

2. Then use the command "Layer>New>Layer from background" to make a layer from the image.

3. Give urself some room to work, by increasing the canvas size to your liking. (Image>Canvas size)

4. Make about 3 new layers, these will come in handy later on. (Layer>New>Layer x3)

5. Continue preparing the image, by trimming the edges around the girl with the eraser, set to about 70% opacity. Don't remove too much, just until it looks right to you.

6. When done, start working in a new layer, above the bikini girl. Use a round brush to paint the bra, and the arm-band purple. It looks ugly solid at first, but don't worry, u'll fix this now. When done painting, just adjust the transparency of this layer, to about 30 %. (Layer>Layer style>Blending options. Adjust only the opacity slider in the "General blending" section)Voila, the bra starts showing through.

7. Now it's time for the gradients. This bit is a bit tricky. There are 2 types used here, radial and linear gradient. The radial gradient is from solid black to solid grey, and the linear is from solid black to transparent. It works best if each type of gradient is also done in its own layer. Just keep this order of layers: (Top to bottom)

a. Linear gradient

b. Purple bra overlay

c. Desaturated image of bikini girl

d. Radial gradient

Or you could just play around with the order until it looks right to you. I hope this helps you along, although I know it's a bit quick through the steps. But it's just a guide. If you need any more help, give a shout. I might be able to send you a PSD with all the steps to see.

dude, that is a really awesome tutorial, really appreciate it. However i got a bit lost at step 5, is it possible to send me the .psd if that is not too much to ask? Want to try and create this affect on a few more models if possible.
