magnetosphere

hey everyone,

i recently came across this awesome visualization for iTunes : http://software.barbariangroup.com/

from what i can see, it's amazing! all the reviews agree. there is just one problem, that i found.

when i tried to install it, it would say the install was successful, yet when i went to view the visualization, it didn't show it. it showed the default visuals. any ideas?

Try restarting iTunes... thanks for the link btw... awesome!

#455536

It's just like they say on their page.... "The last iTunes visualizer you will ever want for."... it's beautiful and gorgeous.

Great find rammass18 !!! Thanks a lot for link.

#455552

did the install work?

#455572

On a mac here... yes.

#455576

I also can't get it to work on a pc. Installs fine, but doesn't switch to Magnetosphere when selected. The default itunes visualizer sticks.

#455577

it worked on my PC... also I had some talk with one of the developers via mail.. and they have just added Album Art support on track change.

It works on my PC as well as my Mac.... cool stuff !!

I fear Mplugin has something to do with it, but I'm too lazy to verify it. iGo, are you using Mplugin? And what version iTunes (for the pc)

#455596

iTunes latest (7.1.1.5), no Mplugin... but I wonder if it's really Mplugin. In fact if you are using MPlugin, that means you're still using Older iTunes.. that could be the problem.

#455602

i have the latest version of itunes, no mplugin, and it still won't work on my pc

@rammass18 : Search for file called Magnetosphere.dll, by default it should be in C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataApple ComputeriTunesiTunes Plug-ins folder... if it isn't move that file in there or in C:Program FilesiTunesplug-ins (or wherever your iTunes is installed). That should work !!

I don't know if it's just me, but this things seems to look better on my mac.

hey,

i've here is what i've done:

i've reinstalled itunes. i ran the install; visual doesn't work

placed magnetosphere.dll in a folder called "iTunes Plug-ins" in the application data folder just like you said; still won't work

placed magnetosphere.dll in a folder called "plug-ins" in the program files folder like you said; still no result.

any other ideas?

If you're using multiplugin, you have to revert to the default skin before you can switch visualizers. I had the same problem with the Cover Version visualizer.

#455791

the odd thing is, i'm not using the multiplugin.

i'm using the latest version of itunes, with nearly default settings. the only thing different is the location of my music, and the podcast settings.

anybody else having this problem?

#455795

is the Visual at least showing up in iTunes > View > Visualizer menu ??

Because if it's not showing up even after placing in DLL in direct iTunes/Plug-ins folder, then mate you got a some serious prob.

Also just check, if your Program Files/iTunes folder has full administrative right, I had problem with corrupted rights earlier (caused certain features on Mplugin to reset everytime iTunes restarted)

Hooraaaay, a cookie for Sartre! In my case, on itunes 7.0.2 with Mplugin, switching to the default skin did it for me!. And boy, did it work! Real eyecandy!

#455833

WWWWOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it worked, thank you iGo!!!!!!

#455844

:)... cool... so what exactly was the prob?? Folder rights?

#455846

No I think he meant Sartre's post.

You did good too. :P

EDIT: Okay, okay, sorry

#455857

I was talking about rammass18's problem... I read that Vale46 was having trouble with MPlugin, but rammass18 is using latest iTunes and wasn't getting around running this vis.

#455859

i dunno what did it. it all of a sudden started working. maybe i ran into a glitch, but i dunno....

#455891

This is sort of related... can someone tell me why on Earth I cant get out of Full Screen when I switch to the Visualizer?

#455896

is the option activated?

#456025

Awesome, thanks for the link to the visualizer!

-NC

Nevermind, rammas, I fixed it. I'm using the G-Force Vis and I thought the Full Screen hotkey was interchangeable. But it actually made iTunes display Vis. full-screen all the time.

I just unticked it in Preferences.
