How to get into magazine editing?

Well i have been watching a TV programme called Deadline its about creating a magazine from photography, interviews and wording and editing of it.

Well i thought someone might know how i would/begin to look into getting into/studying the magazine editing business like photography and page designs and what not so what would I do something about this, because i really find this an interesting possible career.
