DMG Extraction
To extract, the DMG files, you'll need two, or three, tools:
1. UltraISO - to open the DMG file...
2. IconWorkshop, or ArtIcons - to convert ICNS, RSRC or ICONTAINER file to PNG.
Sometimes, UltraISO will pop-up a message "Invalid or unknown image file format"...
Then, you can solve this problem, with 3rd tool
3. DMGExtractor v0.5 (build #48) - a small java script, which will allow you, to convert troublesome DMG, to ISO....
Then, extraction is simple and easy

A third option for these icons are if you've got AshDevil's M set you have these icons already!
question, if you have a software that is for mac, but is also made for windows (dont ask my why i have it for mac) if you change the dmg to iso will it work on windows??
Sounds like it's a Java application. They work across multiple platforms. Not sure if it will run on windows because I think the dmg is compiled differently? If inside the dmg it consists of files with the jar extension than possibly.

Thanks so much ash -I haven't tried the program yet but if it works that'll be brilliant. I had tried to use "dmg2iso" but it never worked. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure this one out.
how exactly do you run a .jar? i double click it, but it opens with winrar. i change it to .exe and a command window comes up for like...2 seconds but then disappears :confused:. same thing happens if i

...cmd comes up for a second.
all i did was extract the jar file -haven't tried using it yet - so i don't know how to do anything from that point. So you'll need to "unzip" it first.
Already tried unzipping it, theres nothing there.
To run the jar file
java -jar dmgextractor.jar
A window should open but it doesn't work for this dmg file
On my machine, this .jar file is running on Java 2 Platform Standard Edition, as a binary/executable jar file.
Just install Sun Java 2 and it will work
ASH: Thanks for sharing your knownledge. I'm trying to get the icons out of crystalclear.dmg. Once I get the .dmg to .iso. I open UltraISO and "mount" it....is this correct? And from there what do I do because i've clicked everywhere and can't seem to view the files within the .iso. Thanks in advance.
Look... I'm doin' it, like that...
First, I'm converting the DMG file, to ISO.
Then, I'm opening ISO file, with UltraISO, and simply drag the ICNS (and sometimes RSRC/ICONTAINER/PNG/TIFF files) and drop 'em, into a previously prepared folder...
I'm not mountin' anything... Simply:
1. CONVERT TO ISO;
2. OPEN WITH UltraISO (or other software, with similar possibilities);
3. COPY CHOSEN FILES, USING DRAG'N'DROP METHOD WHEREVER U WANT.
TADAAAAM!
THAT'S IT
Now how in the ass do i do it with DMGExtractor?! I've tried like...every possiblity :confused:

And when you are connected where it wants to handshake ?
Laertis... I've never had such problems... I double-click app-shortcut, and it pops an info window up (GNU, blahblahblah, open source, blah, blahblah, blah), Clicking OK button, closes the info window.
Next is the browser window, for searching the dmg file.
Then, it asking you, whether you want to specify output file, or not (the second option, will force software, to save converted file in a default location, which is My Documents folder).
If you choose the first option, you'll see another browser window, for searching/naming an output file.
REMEMBER! YOU WANT TO CONVERT DMG TO ISO, SO IF YOU PICK AN DMG FILE, IN SECOND WINDOW, DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE EXTENSION TO ISO. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT!.
That's it.
