Are there any free alternatives to photoshop I could use? I want as many of the features as possible, and transparency in images supported for sure..
I've used paint.net but it doesn't have crop (
) and GIMP messes up my system, you guys know any other possibilities?

I have an old version of photoshop elements on my desktop, but I want SOMETHING to have on my laptop...
you're not going to get anything near photoshop for free, but IMO the second best thing is gimp. you should investigate why it messes up your system instead of looking for a whole new app. it could help you in the long run

I personally like GIMP a little better for all the features
Paint.NET does have a crop function though...
If Gimp messed up your system you should try the portable version and run it off a flash drive.
I swear by it.
