Compare the two

I was wondering if anyone had any insights as to specs/quality/lvl-of-difficulty on these 2 products, because im currently deciding on which one to use

the problem i am having is choosing between adobe premiere pro and adobe after effects

im not looking for some heavy video editing, just some basic cropping and adding music overlays etc., but id like to try something other than windows movie maker, becuase in the future i hope to do more advanced stuff, and i think itd be a good idea to experience some of this stuff now before i do that

(also, if anyone prefers Sony Vegas, please say so and why )
