Can't get permissions of file using Command Prompt

I can't get the permissions for the file.. why not?

You can try right clicking the command prompt and clicking Run as Administrator. It usually works.

right click the file you want to have rights to. then go to security>advanced>owner>edit then click your name, or the account you want to have owner privileges then apply and then press ok on the rest of the boxes. then right click the file again then go to security then edit then select the name or the account you want to have owner privileges then tick the appropriate boxes. ye i know a load of hassle haha.

I did it, and I still don't get anything done..

I deactivated UAC and entered both commands into command prompt, and yet it still doesn't work... It says I need permission to complete this action..

What the hell?

Make sure you rebooted after UAC disabling.

Then run cmd again , the Command prompt must have "Administrator" in the title.

If UAC is enabled, launch task manager, click the button with the shield on the bottom "show process for all users" i think, then click on File -> Run , trype cmd and the prompt should be administrator.
