Leopard like Safari

This tutorial was brought to you by Galaxy GUI

First Install this theme, it is a very good emulation of safari called Foxdie 1.0.6

http://tanjihay.deviantart.com/art/Foxdie-...-1-0-6-60350715

  • For this theme, install it select as theme
  • Restart Firefox then go to themes, right click foxdie>about then choose leopard and leopard, no other options are nesecary unless you choose to use them.

OR

LeoFox by neodesktop

http://neodesktop.deviantart.com/art/Leopa...LeoFox-63760929

Then Download the following plugins/extensions for firefox:

Stop-or-Reload Button - Combine the stop and reload button *install version 0.2.2

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/313

Fission - Statusbar/loading progress in Address Bar like in Safari

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1951

Autohide Statusbar

Click Install under the Installation section. A bar will pop up in firefox asking you if you want to allow addons to be installed from this site. click edit options and then allow.

Compact Menu 2 - Customised version of Compact Menu extension for Firefox 2. This replaces the original menubar into a single button or icon.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4550

sometimes after uninstall of this addon your menus disappear completely...

OPTIONAL

TAB EFFECT - Add a cube spinning effect when changing tabs

http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4258

You know have a safari emulation on your firefox that looks almost like the real thing (the windows version cannot be skinned to have mac like minimize close and maximize buttons so thats why safari emulation on firefox is still alive, and safari also still has lots of bugs :P ) None of the programs above where made by me so I hold no credit for them.

#451148

what about compactmenu? that's been a staple in every firefox to safari emulation guide since forever

#451156

For the cube effect, what do you have to do to activate it? just switch tabs or what..? It doesn't work for me..

#451550

Yeah, every time you switch tabs it shows the effect.

You have to be using Windows with the latest DirectX.

#451600

I am both... I don't see anything..

#451603

Well, unless you've never had problems with programs that utilize Dx, I'd say your graphics card... sucks. :o

#451604

I've never had problems.. but I do think my graphics card sucks :P

#451607

I've never had problems.. but I do think my graphics card sucks :P

try downloading the latest DirectX 9.0c, from April 2007

#452551

wow, that tab effect is so uber sweet! lol

I never say uber, but that extension forced it out of me...

#453109

I fixed it.. For some reason it required me to restart my computer.. Not just FireFox.. It's a nice effect.. not as smooth as I would have hoped though.

#453167

Anyone knows how to force tabs to look more like the Saphari tabs?

#453490

Anyone knows how to force tabs to look more like the Saphari tabs?

ive been wondering how to change the color too. unfortunately i don't know.. so far its the best emulation of safari

#453521

First, choose a color.

Change Color of Tabs

/* Change color of active tab */

tab{ -moz-appearance: none !important; } tab[selected=true] {

background-color: rgb(222,218,210) !important;

color: black !important; }

/* Change color of normal tabs */

tab:not([selected=true]) {

background-color: rgb(200,196,188) !important;

color: gray !important; }

I'm going to sound like a total newbie, but where do I put that? :P

#453529

the easiest way is to use Stylish: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108

it installs an icon in ur status bar, right click it, hit Write Style>New Style.

#453532

me, i like colorful tabs, myself, personally...

#453534

ooh thanks for the link shmengie

#453536

Can I change the Tabs AND Bookmarks bar to Safari-Brushed Color in Firefox 2 with the Thruth-K theme??

edit: i guess not...

#453551

Sorry for bumping thread.

Tutorial has been updated to look like Leopard Safari and new links have been added since some of the older ones were down. ;)

#478506

Haha, way to keep us updated. Would have never found that theme. Thanks!

#478612

I think VFox is a better theme option than Spectrum, but hey.

#478634

Well.. for the last few days I've been using LeoFox made by neodesktop. It's the better than both spectrum and VFox (imo)

#479779

Has anyone successfully added the little "apple" compactmenu button to the Foxdie skin? I tried myself but I can't get it working.

Tutorial updated again

#491475

Hi there, great topic! :)

I think here's the right place to ask a question about Firefox->Safari emulation.

I use Compact Menu and since I installed an update for it, I got this sh*t at the bottom of the browser. (

I also don't have acces to the "apple" button that contains in it the defailt Firefox menu.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.
