QuickTime not loading Apple Trailers

Hello peeps! Can anyone help me?

I have QuickTime installed on my computer and wanted to watch some Apple Trailers yesterday but for some reason the QuickTime logo appeared but nothing loaded or indicated that it was downloading the trailer.

So today I re-checked again and now the logo looks like the attachment below.

Seeing as how Aqua-Soft is the best forum in the world. I decided to post this in the hope of getting some answers.

Here is a list of what I have done so far...

- Uninstalled QuickTime completely and downloaded the latest version v7.1.6.

- Removed all IE7 cookies, form data, history, passwords, temp files + settings stored by add-ons.

- Check to see weather the option "Play movies automatically" was checked and it is.

- Reset all QuickTime file types to default.

- Check for Windows updates.

Also...

- I don't have any browsers installed on my computer, except for Internet Explorer v7.0.5730.11.

- I have not customized IE7 in any way, apart from installing IE7Pro v0.9.18. Link

- I don't have any toolbars installed on my computer, including the ones that come with Yahoo! Messenger etc.

I got this "iexplore.exe - Application Error" straight after closing the browser, after I posted this thread...

The instruction at "0x66869bc7" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I think I read something about this while searching and that it might have something to do with QuickTime but obviously, I still need help.

I would try (simple option) installing FireFox and see if that works.

If it works then it would point to IE being the problem, if it still doesn't work then It would point to QT being the problem.

Not a definite solution but would pinpoint where the problem lies.

well...i'm having the same problem as well...and currently, i still can't view any streaming movie trailers...

but to make the application error message disappear whenever you quit IE, you have to disable the add-ons for quicktime inside IE...to do this, go to

Tools -> Manage Add Ons and then disable all quicktime related stuff...

that will at least solve the irritating IE application error msg...but won't help in getting the streaming movie trailers to work...

do let us know if you have any fix available as well...

I tried using Opera to view some trailers but was unsuccessful.

I have also tried viewing other trailers etc from different websites but they didn't work either. The only thing that has loaded for me (weirdly), is the random "Night at the Museum" Trailer on the Apple website but it slightly cuts off the play/control features. Link

That's all I have so far, I'm not giving up yet!

Maybe you should not disable all add ons and add on settings in IE7. Quicktime installs a Quicktime object into the add ons that is needed for it to work. Disabling addons or disabling active x will disable Quicktime. I mean, no error messages, but no movies either.

So reinstall ie7 or return it to default state with all add ons and active x enabled, then install quicktime and see.

Sorry if I'm contradicting any opinions....good luck

Here's what I just did...

Uninstalled QuickTime completely, deleted all browsing history and re-setted all IE7 settings. I then restarted the computer, did a Disk Cleanup, ran a full system clean and then re-setted once again.

Finally, I installed QuickTime once more, adjusted some settings in both QT and IE7 (nothing major) and went to view a trailer on the Apple website. As I am writing this (with a tab for the trailer still open), the logo hasn't faded or shown a "?" but the trailer is just blank (white) with the logo on it and doesn't appear to be loading, nor does it have the Play, Pause etc. bar.

I'm not sure whether some Apple trailers are suppose to fully download themselves before playing but I hope it does something soon...

ok, last idea...install or upgrade to flashplayer 9.

I downloaded Flash + Shockwave Player, closed IE7, re-opened IE7 and checked a trailer but it's still the same as my last post. I have no idea what else to do... :sigh:

Did you go to the quicktime folder and delete the file "QTPlugin.ocx"?

Also, you haven't specified which version of windows you are running.

I would try this.

1). Rename the plugins folder (C:Program FilesQuicktimePlugins) to something else AND move QTPlugin.ocx, anywhere but it's current location (which is C:Program FilesQuicktime), don't delete it in case you might need it. Also go to C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerPLUGINS and move all the npqtplugin.dll's from there (i wouldn't rename the folder because it has other plugins.

2). Open internet explorer and go to addons, find anything with the word quicktime on it, if it isn't there thats good, if it is, press delete or see if you can. The quicktime one will probably be under 'Addons that run without requiring permission'. EDIT: you can't delete addons using ie when you didn't use internet explorer to install them. Just disable these when you find them .

3). Go to the apple trailers site without the plugin in its place now, and see what happens. Hopefully it should try and download the addon again, or at least ask you to reinstall quicktime without an error message.

4). If all else fails, uninstall Quicktime once more, delete everything in the folder again, search for files and folders containing the word quicktime, delete/move those, install again and see what happens.

Also, have you modified internet explorer at all? While I usually use firefox to watch quicktime movies, it works for me right now, even though i barely use ie7. Try removing the pro thing you talk about and see what happens if everything above doesn't work.

When I uninstalled QuickTime, the QuickTime folder in "Program Files was deleted upon restart. I am also running Windows XP SP2.

In response to customizing IE7, I only installed the IE7Pro add-on, (link is on first post). However when I deleted all IE7 data and uninstalled QuickTime, I also uninstalled the IE7Pro add-on and didn't re-install it until after I tried everything in my post "Here's what I just did...".

The only trouble is, is that I downloaded Flash 9 already, so um, i'm stuck. lol
