A free, non-bootable partitioner

im looking for a free partioner software. if possible, one that i do not need to boot from.

i want to partion my 2nd hard drive (200GB) with my windows xp system on it into a 180/20, so that i can install yet another Linux distro. please, help is needed ;)

try gparted, its free and it comes with ubuntu, since i've heard you have it, put in the live cd and use it from there.

This could have easily been solved by searching in the right places, even wikipedia has an article for it:

thanks, but do i need to boot from the live CD or can i use it straight from Ubuntu already installed?

im sure you can do that too, why not check, and if it isn't already installed then install it. I was just under the impression that if the program is run off the disc it won't touch the hard drive and might be slightly faster.

i have Ubuntu installed on a seperate drive, so then i dont think it would matter. also, is gparted a "non-distructive" partioner?
