You know that feeling you get...?

So, I've had my Mac mini for about 2 years now (I got it when they first were released). Yes, it was OS X, yes, I loved it. But for a while there was something(s) missing. In the past two weeks, I've upgraded from 256MB of RAM, to 1GB. Today, I just ditched my 17" CRT and bought myself a brand spanking new 19" LCD. Accompanying the new LCD is my new Wacom Graphire. Finally, I can draw without using a friggin' mouse (left handed, but use a mouse right handed).

I feel like I just stepped into 2005.

Now, all I need is broadband...

Yes broadband broadband... U really do need it....

umms - if you live in Australia, checkout the site whirlpool... and do a plan search, you'll be able to find a plan thats right for you in terms of usage, cost and speed.... just select all the option u want....i recommend getting unlimited because being charged for excess REALLY sux and is usually a rip off.

Our family is with AAPT, and we pay something like $35 a month unlimited, and the speed is good.... but shaped after 15gb of downloads (which is heaps and fair enough, i dont want excess users stealing my bandwidth).

1st: An apology to wizard (and maybe nc) for hijacking your lovely thread, i was a bit surprised by the whole april fools thing.

2nd: metallica, i remember a time when i used to complain about my win98 machine, and when i told people i had 128MB ram, they were surprised to hear of that much ram on win98.

when i moved from win98 to xp, the cpu power i had increased from 350MHz to 3.4GHz, and the hard disk space from 1GB to 120GB, and i also got 1Mb broadband on that same day up from AOL dialup (same as usual dialup but 20 times slower, i'm sure everyone knows), so i don't know that feeling wizard :cool:

Bah! My PIII 500MHz was running Windows XP Pro on 128 MB O' RAM. Quite smoothly, too.

Had a PII 266Mhz w/ 64MB RAM upto September 2003 and was proud of it!

I thought my 256K cable was good until I realised that the internet now caters to >1Mbps connections.

I don't really see why trading in a 17" for a 19" is such a big deal, unless the 19" is widescreen. They both use the same resolution, so esentially, your looking at the same screen, just more spread out. A better change IMO would've been to go from a 17" to say a 19" widescreen or 20".

I'm simply blown away at the price/size ratio of harddrives these past few years... I've bought many a harddrive for editing purposes and so it's a pretty exciting time to see costs being such. Now if only they'd get those flash drives to drop a bit.

I remember the days when I had Windows 98 (SE mind you) on a system with a Pentium 2 processor, 128MB RAM and a 6GB hard drive.

My personal computer (the iMac is the family computer) at the moment is an HP Omnibook 6000 with a P3 processor, 20GB HD and 256MB RAM. I'll be getting the feeling of a leap forward in time soon when I get myself a MacBook Pro.

Congratulations on your upgrade! It is a good feeling to upgrade, isn't it?

From a 17" CRT to a 19" LCD is a BIG upgrade in screen real estate IMO. I didn't know 19" LCD's run at 1024x768
