5KB/s? hope that was a typo! Cable is actualy better than DSL. i had Verizon ADSL and i only had 768KB/s. With Cable i have an outstanding 30MB/s

5 Megabits per second. My bad. I'm sure cable is faster.... when it works. I never got faster than 3 Megabits per second on it. I had them for 6 months and hated every moment of it. Been happy ever since on DSL.
Your speed on Cable is dependent on how many people have it around you. An old friend of mine from high school got it when it first went available in a near town. It was very fast, but as the sub-division grew, and many more people got the same service, his transfer rate declined dramatically. DSL is a dedicated line, thus you have a constant speed.

yea, i get 30MB/s with Optimum Online BOOST. a lot of people in my village also have it, so i guess that explains why my download times/speeds are all over the place :slant:

Ugh, I had dial-up until recently, it was murder. The fastest download speed I ever got was 4.7kb/sec. *shudders*
