This is the first forum beta of the new DeskPhoto. The program was rewritten from scratch but it has all the old features plus:

(*) this is the next mirror engine to be added in CD Art Display; unlike the mirror in CAD that draws the effect each second this new engine draws the effect just once; in addition you can set the size and strength of the mirror effect tho the second setting will always depend on the first one (test and you'll know what I mean). Just the picture itself is mirrored (if you'd like to add a mirror to a full frame skin then you have to change the frame png adding a mirror via an image editor)

Just unzip the files in a folder, start DeskPhoto and drag som pictures over it. The first toolbar button displays a context menu; the second add the current picture to the "favorites". The last 3 are navigation buttons (prev, start/pause, next). If DP is focused you can use the keyboard to go to the previous picture (backspace or left arrow) or the next one (space or right arrow). To set the file association go to "Control Panel>Options".

The old skins settings can't be used. Note just the old settings. The graphics can be used. You only have to adjust it through Control Panel. See the Default skin to see the required files.

NOTE: If you like to test beta software and you're using XP disable Dr. Watson legacy; just Google it and make the registry changes. Dr. Watson can create up to 3 instances related to the program that crashes making you believe that you can't end it through Task Manager.

so, the first thing i did after starting the app was change to the pin skin and hit apply. the prog errored out and i couldn't even end task. then after restarting, the pin skin was there, but click on open picture or open folder does nothing.

Same thing here. Had to kill it (and Dr Watson for that matter) through Task Manager. Add Folder/Picture menu didn't work but I could add them by drag-and-drop.

Thank you. I'll fix the error.

The only way to add pictures is by drag-and-drop them (at least for now).

The "Open picture" will open the current picture with the default image viewer and teh "Open folder" will open the image location (Explorer).

Ahh...so that's what those do. Maybe changing them to 'Open picture in Explorer' and 'Open folder in Explorer' would be more descriptive?

You're right Sranshaft. I'll change maybe for "View picture" and "Open picture location" (used if I'm not wrong by WMP11).

In addition, the reported bug was fixed. See initial post.
