WebCam Quality for Live Messenger

As I'm sure most of you know, the video quality for Live Messenger uhh.. leaves much room for improvement (to put it bluntly, it makes me want to shoot myself ) Is there anyway I can improve the quality? A plugin or something?

Yes, a 1.3 megapix webcam . I have no software solution sorry..

It has to do with the video compression method. I forget all the technical mumbo jumbo, but apparently, the reason why it's crap is because it uses a very lossy format to be able to send an entire streaming video at near real time.

iChat AV uses a more efficient, higher quality video encoding. That's pretty much the only way you'll get a better picture, is by using the real iChat.

So there aren't any programs I can use with my MSN account or plugins that can FIX the actual quality? Is it possible, should I keep looking around or is it impossible to do it without iChat AV ?
