hi guys, im kinda new to the modding world, i've just downloaded a theme from here, and I'm stuck with 2 folders called shell32.dll and msgina.dll with pictures in there. How do I go about changing these files with the default dlls in windows XP?

msgina.dll and shell32.dll both reside in the WindowsSystem32 folder, also, WindowsSystem32dllcache has the shell32.dll file. Replace the files after saving the old ones, in both of these locations, then reboot.
oh.. i see the msgina.dll.. but how do I change the pictures? all the theme provides are just pictures
do what he said...but i dont see what the point is in replacing msgina.dll because all it is is your shutdown dialog image. and shell32.dll are all your icons, etc. be careful with that. make sure you back up before you switch em. Just cut the shell32.dll file, get the replacer tool (i don't have a URL at the moment) and replace the one in the WINDOWSSystem32 folder with your new one and reboot. the images are...how to say...embedded into the DLL File. so...just do it this way and be careful. there's lots of big bad scary emulation things out there that can rough up your comp.
P.S. - did you scan the shell32.dll file thoroughly with an AV Program?
I have a feeling these guys may be misunderstanding your question. What are the filenames of the images inside? If each one is numbered, I believe you're supposed to use ResHack to modify the msgina.dll file that's on your computer (C:WindowsSystem32) to replace the included bitmaps. Copy this file to the desktop or somewhere you don't mind working, and use that to play around with. Note that this won't actually make any changes to your system unless you modify the msgina.dll that's in C:WindowsSystem32, and that's a bit more difficult.
I would open up and experiment with ResHacker, and use the backup of msgina.dll that you copied to your desktop. When you're comfortable--and make sure you are because this is an easy way to mess up your computer--you can look into replacing the msgina.dll that's in the System32 folder. You may also be interested in Iceman's tutorial for replacing system files.
