A few MirandaIM questions

So after seeing a myriad of posts regarding how great Miranda IM is, I decided to check it out. However, a few things are on my mind...

(I run WinXP, just to lay the groundwork in that area...)

1. Is there any way to nest groups? I really like how Trillian has done this, but GAIM as is doesnt and I'm not sure if Miranda is capable.

2. Whenever I IM someone, the conversation shows small blue arrows for the sender/reciever. I assume this is for incoming/outgoing messages, but this is the big thing preventing me from switching over and trying Miranda, as it bugs the heck out of me. How can I get it to show just the name of the person I'm talking to?

3. I think this one is far-fetched, but is there any way I can get it working from the title bar with Sizer? (http://www.brianapps.net/sizer.html) By the way, thanks to aquasofters (NC, I believe) for that little gem. Miranda as is wont left me right-click on the titlebar. However, it does work if I use sizer from my taskbar.

I'm aware Miranda has tons of plugins available, but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for...UI plugins? Thanks a ton, I think my forays into customization would be severely curtailed without AS.

This thread should help you along. It covers interface skinning, and a few usability plugins, like avatar loading and tabs in conversation windows. The main purpose of that thread is for Miranda to look as close as iChat, but it can also be used as a base for other skins, and it also helped me along in understanding how miranda works in general when I was not familiar with it yet. Mind you, some plugin versions mentioned in the thread are updated, so search for the most recent ones. The names and steps are still fairly accurate though. A few changes here and there aside ;)

Nice, this is much better. Miranda is a bit complicated at first, but this isn't so bad.

One more question: I got this slick Black Tango theme HERE

Now when I install it, it leaves a padding around the contact list window, probably no more than 10 or 15 pixels. I would very much prefer to have that eliminated, so I can fit my window snugly against my others. However, when I looked in the skins object editor, I found no borders to play around with...not sure if I am explaining this well, time for some mspaint...

It would be awesome if the miranda window could lose the gaps on the left and right sides of the contact list. Everything else is actually quite nice with that guide, thanks!

Try this: OptionsContact listWindow tab. Modify the Client Area Margins.

Edit: If that doesn't help completely, then modifying the bitmaps in photoshop (or similar) is your next bet. But you would still have to play around with the client area margins to make it look right

Yea changing client margins modifies the insides of the contact list (group names, etc...) I'll try playing with the bmps and see if I can obtain what I desire. Thanks!

Edit: Got it close enough for my comfort. This is pretty cool, Miranda keeps improving each time I tweak something or find an option I missed before but is incredibly useful/cool.
