Where can I download some nice and safe Windows Vista bootscreens?
How about a simple app I can use to make my own?

nah i dont think so. XP's boot screen is only 8-bit i believe, so just basic colors....ever notice the really poor quailty windows logo?

Presumably the boot screen is still located in ntoskrnl.exe, where itw as in XP. Google around and search Aqua-Soft for tutorials on how to change the boot screen with ResHacker, but use extreme caution. Keep in mind that some of the things you want may not be technically possible.

Bootskin Vista is in the works, and it's expected to start showing up sometime around Spring.
vista has a bootscreen you just need to turn it on it's green and purple i think ...type msconfig in to run and turn on nogui i could be mistaken about "msconfig" but it's something along those lines 
I've tried that before, I actually prefer the first one, the other one is really bad in my opinion, thanks anyway
If you don't want to risk killing your computer simply download bootskin and there should be some vista boots on www.deviantart.com if you search well. *the bootskins WILL be in low quality since like said above only 8bit colors are shown
The current Bootskin doesn't work on Vista, see Island Dog's post above.
There's a tool called "Windows Vista Boot Logo Generator" which should be pretty nice, but I haven't tested it yet, so I can't say anything about it, sorry.

I downloaded it, but I am having problems gaining permissions for the file to be replaced, I have tried disabling UAC and everything.. and yet I can't manage.
@ spyro94: I think that you need to take ownership of the files and/or folders. To do that, follow the instructions below:
1) Right Click on the File or Folder that you wish to take ownership of and select properties from the menu that appears.
2) Click on the Security Tab > Click on the Advanced Button
3) Click on Owner Tab > Click on Edit button that has a pic of the Windows Shield
4) Confirm UAC warning that appears
5) Change ownership as you would in XP.
