best anti-spyware program for vista?

I don't know about Live OneCare, but I wouldn't trust anything Microsoft. I don't doubt Microsoft will take money under the table to let certain companies have their way with your computer and the information on it...

Do you realize the way you 1) mislead users who read your "thinking" and 2) your speech is ridiculous and of no sense. Money under the table? To peak at your little stuff? For what? And to do what with it? Send you 25 millions spam a day to you alone? Or maybe do it large scale like nobody will know?

Come on lets be serious a second... Obviously you will need to do some legal research because you do not seem to take the measure of how many million people work quiet actively at screening big corp. waiting for that one single opportunity to strike. Do you have any idea of how many hundreds millions if not billions such a class suit would cost?

So basically based on your "post" we would see Bill Gates and its accomplice sneak on your computer to sell stuff or maybe even your credit card number (what can be there more than that....) all that to sell it under the table to someone else.... and face gigantic liability, the end of Microsoft the day it hits the fan, billions gone, millions out of jobs etc.... All that to peak on YOUR computer.... that's hot!

Now for all other of you who are ready this for what the title say, be careful when you add any type of software on Vista because the beast is gorgeous to look at but requires more (lot) CPU & RAM than XP. I linked below some good articles about performances in general and some specific coverage of security tool from people who know what they talk about or at least look like they reflected it.

And yes, it is preferable you stay away from Vista firewall, Defender and Onecare first because Microsoft need those tool to be as dumb and easy as possible to avoid gigantic customer service and technical support load in a period where the software industry is COLAPSING. To me the best security products on Vista are NOD322 as antivirus, ZoneAlarm as firewall (still beta and a little unstable but fast and low resources) and Adaware for spy crap.

Why would Microsoft have to steal anything from your computer when you're paying $400 for a copy of Vista. As for the best antivirus software I would have to say NOD32.

I totally agree with flexdesigner. A big firm like M$ (however disreputable it may be) will not and can not indulge in activities like this. As for the recommendation for Nod32 as the antivirus, I don't know about Vista, but on XP it let me down. Thoroughly. My pc was behaving abnormally: unexpected freezes, crashes...Two full scans from Nod yielded nothing. Only an online scan by Kaspersky gave me a clue as to what might be wrong...I'm sorry if this might seem to be a rant, but it's my verdict after being a longtime user of nod32.
