Changing the Yellow Folders in XP

Hello peeps! I have two questions regarding the default yellow "Folder" icon in XP. The questions are...

1: Does anyone know if you can change all the default yellow Folders in XP, to a different icon without changing them all individually? Such as perhaps (if possible), locate the yellow Folder icon in Explorer/My Computer and just changing that icon will change all the rest or something?

2: When you view the yellow Folders in Thumbnail view, is it possible to change that icon aswell? If so, what size would they be anyhoo?

Thankyou for reading! :D

IconPackager can change all the icons safely (reshack can do scary stuff to your machine).

Ickis, I'm almost 100% sure that this issue has come up several times in the past. I specifically remember one of the threads containing the BMPs to be reshacked. I'm sorry I can't remember when, but if you do a somewhat thorough search, I'm sure you'll come across it.

Unfortunately, I also remember something about folder contents not being previewed. Anyway, good luck.

Thankyou dave, I'll try doing another extensive search. :)

icolor folder is also good for changeing the color if thats what you want, it comes with flyakite osx you can customly install just that.

Just to be clear, I exclusively referred to your second question. Regarding the first one, there are a lot of free tools available out there, IconPhile is one. As AirForceOnes mentioned, iColorFolder will let you change the default folder icon as well.

I've been using BeeIcons forever ($19.95), and I couldn't live without it. If you're only looking to change your folders, it might be overkill though.

If you just want to change the default folder icon only and that is it. It can be done easily in the registry look under icons over at virtualplastic.

My thinking is that your end result won't be what you suspect because the other crappy default icons will still be crappy. Check out some of the suggested tools is the best way to go.

Edit: Your second question was just discussed in one of the other window forums & someone has achieved it.

It's in one of the subforums as a tutorial http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=42001

I second IconTweaker.

You can change a registry value for this, but I second the icolorfolder app. It works great and uses no resources at all.
