Protip: its impossible for both.
is the iMac a G3 or G4? I've seen people mod a G3 into a wintel box so I'm sure it is possible, you can't do the same on a G4 though..
you can put any processor in any ibook. i think i will take the processor from a macpro and put it in my ibook next week
doesn't mean it will work though ![]()
DIFFERENT PROCESSORS TAKE DIFFERENT MOTHERBOARDS TAKE DIFFERENT COMPUTERS
You need a new computer with a new motherboard to use a new Intel chip.
the funny thing is, i was going to use one of those to seat the P4 into my new motherboard, because i couldn't be assed to remove the heatsink off it...
lmao guys.
thanks for the tip.....its a G3 iMac, so yeah i guess i wont be installing any new processers.
@gnomexp- not true. ive put a P4 into an old Dell that had a P2 in it, so yeah
@metallicamaster3
Please take a break from posting these inane questions and do a little background reading of your own. A G4 has a PowerPC processor. A Core 2 Duo is of the x86 variety. They are completely different architectures. I'm all for you making a few posts and starting a few threads here and there because that's what forums are about; accumulating knowledge, but this flood of rubbish from you is really degrading these forums.
Thanks for your understanding ![]()
P.S. On a side note, these new Core Duos/Core 2 Duos/etc , is it true they're based more on the Pentium 3 than the Pentium 4? I fired up a Pentium 3 the other day and it was surprisingly zippy at certain tasks.
not to be rude, carvetia, but do i ode to you now?
are you calling me rubbish??!! are you calling me degrading?! i am suprised at you :slant:

i only ode to the wonderful mods ![]()
(you do know im just playin'........well........sort of)
oops forgot to mention to say "thank you"! i guess im just used to having macs use x86 now that i forgot my G4 was a PPC machine ![]()

I'm sorry but I couldn't understand half of what you said there.
err another slightly pointless and already flamed thread....hmmm i think you need to take a break from making threads for a bit...i don't mean to be mean but imo you ARE degrading this forum...it would be nice to look at the new posts section and not see another pointless metallicamaster3 thread
