The iTunes 7.1 window will not show

please someone help me!

ok story:

i updated a few days ago -cos a mssg from itunes popped up "do u want to update to latest version" bla bla so i updated..unfortunately

i "think" i updated to 7.1 from here:

anyway done it etc n so i double click on itunes and..it worked

HOWEVER

as my previous one had multiplugin and the "updated" version didnt so i closed it and panicked..

then i double clicked on multiplugin and tried to reinstall it or something as i am no comp pro i probs COMPLETELY messed it up

because

now when i click on itunes it wont even open! NO response watsoever! i click run and stil nothing..

i click on the songs in my music doc. and they dont open at all but if i wanted to i could listen to them through windows media player BUT

my main worry is that all the lyrics and playlists in my itunes would go missing

well every time i udated it was fine and my lyrics etc were still there

but since i have asian: korean jap chinese lyrics etc. and some of them were REALLY hard to find and i saved it all in itunes

if i remove itunes and redownload..will that mean ALL my lyrics and playlist will disappear??

someone please help me

desperate.. i cant cope without my itunes working its bcome a habit for me to come home n listen to it..ah..

has anyone had this kinda problem b4?

anyhow i tried dl-ing the new multiplugin combined with itunes 7 BUT it said i already have the later version and this version wont work!

ahh...

please please please help me!=(

use search..

there is no reason to panic when mutliplugin doesn't work.

if you searched the itunes 7.1 thread or the multiplugin 2.5 for itunes 7 thread you would have had your answer.

Multiplugin isnt compatible with iTunes 7.1.

You can download the old version of iTunes at www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm

uninstall the new version of iTunes, but be sure to back up your music first.

download the 7.0.2 version, then install multiplugin. once 7.1 is compatible with itunes, then download iTunes again.

There is already a topic about this. Your a new member, so im sure the mods will go easy on you.

wait.. u guys dont understand sorry if i havent made it clear..

i know multiplugin isnt compatible..

problem is.. when i click on itunes it doesnt open-no reaction -nothing

whenever i try to update it tell em i already have a version

but anyway itunes will not open at all

when i double click on my music-it still wont open

only way i listen to music is through right-click open with, windows media player

also i cant uninstall for fear that all the lyrics ive stalled in itunes will be lost

basically here is the problem:

1. itunes will not open at all

2. i cant uninstall because i will lose my lyrics (i think) (i cant get the lyric back because they are real hard to find since its romantised lyrics in japanese, korean and chinese)

anyone can tell me if i uninstall will lyrics disappear? if it doesnt then i will try to uninstall and reinstall the new ones with plugin

until then..im stuck..

all you have to do is completely back up your iTunes music folder. then you can uninstall. you will lose nothing. even i know that

sorry to make it caps but just to emphasise the words a little more.....

i CAN'T open itunes

when i click on it NOTHING happens

so i have no ACCESS to the file-export bla bla and so i CANT backup

and i DONT KNOW any other way

when you say "you lose nothing" does that include playlists, lyrics, smart lists etc?

and what would you recommend for me to do to "completely backyp my itunes folder?"

ESPECIALLY when i cant access it since it will not WORK or OPEN

usually your music is in your My Music/itunes/ folder string....find all your album folders and drag a copy somewhere else. You shouldn't lose your music by uninstalling iTunes, but this is just a precaution.

all you have to do is run through the installer for multiplugin again, it will prompt you to remove it from your computer, and say yes, then it will remove it...once it finishes try and open itunes...and tada it works

you just have to live without multi plugin for a little while or downgrade to itunes 7.0.2

Is iTunes.exe a running process (Use ctrl. + alt. + del. to check) and there's no window showing, or is it simply not even starting up?

itunes does not run as a process, it will not so much as initiate start up exept maybe in safe mode (haven't tried) but the fix i posted above will give you access to itunes, and one will just have to be patient for multi plugin

and NO YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR LYRICS

so just run the multiplugin installer it should prompt to uninstall, don't save settings and then uninstall and all is well

thankx for everyones help and yep i solved it before reading this page

after spending like an hour searching through all the folders in my document and drives

i located all the itunes docs and saved it on my usbs and then uninstalled itunes

and reinstalled it

YEP it worked

NOTHING was lost!

yay so i can safely say that even if you uninstall itunes your music library along with playlists smartlists and lyrics is not lost
