icon isn't displaying correctly in my computer

i remember a thread before, where the person had uninstalled flyakite and this happened, i also found another thread back to 2002 where this happened, but i figured i'd make a new thread anyway...

my icon for the D: partition in my computer has disappeared. It was showing correctly, and then i deleted a few "autorun.inf" files i'd copied from a usb drive. These files were causing a usb icon to overlay over the original one, and now that it's deleted it gets the default "unknown file type" icon instead.

i know the original icon is still there, because when loading/refreshing it appears for a fraction of a second and then is covered by this "missing" icon. I've checked the D: for hidden files/ icons but i can't find any, and this is starting to get me stumped now...

icons were replaced using iconphile, and so far i have found that

-rebuilding the icons from it does not work

-restoring the xp icons and then repeating this does not work

-powertoys tweakui's rebuild does not work.

try a system restore with the USB Drive plugged in.

i don't have the usb drive anymore, and the icon's are windows vista's, a quick google should find them, but you seem to be a proud user of it so you shouldn't have a problem finding them right there on your computer

nope, the system restore didn't work, the problem remains

the old thread i read suggested a change in the registry would fix it, but i cant make a head or tail of it.

as i said, search on google for 'download windows vista icons', every site found should be a download link to xp compatible ones.

meh. i downloaded Vista Icon Pack 3.0, and im suprised its still around considering......wait....nvm

but anyway theyre good icons except for the fact that they dont show up right in my Dock.
