Apple In-Ear Headphones

Hey guys, sorry but I've searched everywhere and can't really find a way to put the Apple In-ear headphones in your ears. I know, I know all of the reviews are terrible, but I didn't read them before hand and they were recommended to me by an Apple Store Rep. Anyways I'm stuck with these headphones now that I've tried them in my ears, and I do not know how to get them on. If any of you guys have any idea how to put them in, please help. :P

Step 1: Put a pair parallel to an ear, with the grey part facing the ear.

Step 2: Move the headphones towards the ear until it makes light contact with it.

Step 3: Apply pressure, placing the gray part into your ear.

Step 4: Repeat for other ear.

I think you forgot one

Step 5: Wait 30 seconds to repeat process all over again. :P

Sorry if I'm coming across as rude, but I am extremely frustrated at this product, don't take it personally :slant:

weren't there instructions with the headphones? x.x

Unfortunately not.

O__o. yeah. rude. What I do with my sony earbuds (similar) is squish them, then insert them towards the front, the hole. (you know, the place you dig earwax out of) stick the gray in there and then release. Yeah. If you have the wrong sized ears, use different buds. BUT, if you ears are weird (like some) then they won't fit in any buds. Just stick with the regular ones, if that's the case. I doubt it though. Tons of ppl have this problem.

If it makes you feel better, I could never get the hang of in-ear headphones. I prefer the ones that curve around your ear--basically over-ear, but better attached.

I never liked in-ear phones (apple or any other, for that matter)... I find them weird (and some of them are really uncomfortable)... and personally prefer Headphones over earphones (you know, the big cups over your ear style)... But mostly I don't like how in-ear phones block outside noise almost entirely (I know that's their purpose).. I prefer to be aware of my surrounding while using earphones/headphones.

At some of point though (when my original iPod earphones died), I had thought of purchasing in-ear phones (as original weren't available in shop). Now reading your experience, I'm really glad I didn't purchase them.

Here's a trick. When you're putting them on, pull down on your ear lobe. Not only will this prevent ear pressure mishaps, you get a much more snug fit.

I came across this method, and it works in my case.

1. For the left ear: With your right hand swung across the back of your head, grab ur left ear by the top, and then pull slightly outwards, and upwards at the same time. This will straighten out ur ear canal, while widening it a bit. This will ease insertion.

2. Repeat same process for right ear, but this time with ur left hand.

3. If it still doesn't fit, try a different size earbud. Earcanals are not always symmetrical in size so you could try a different size for each bud. And for an even greater fit, try cleaning off excess earwax (be it the powder kind or the nasty-ass greasy kind) :P

EDIT: The in-ear phones form apple are just heaven in terms of sound for me, bass-response is out of this world, I don't even need to enable the equalizer. And it blocks out ambient noise quite nice. You want bang for ur buck? Or more buck than bang (depends how u look at it)? Get the 400 bucks-a-pair Shure in-ear phones. If u don't want to hear ur grandma asking you to run to the store, while enjoying ur tunes, these are the ones to get.

I have these add-ons that slip over the bud and they have "prongs" that flare out to hold into your ear better. I still get all the sound and the buds stay put. I got them at the Verizon store.

Can you link me mate? Sounds like a keeper.

This isn't exactly what I have but it's close and may even work better. http://www.ipodobserver.com/story/24148

Edit: Found 'em but mine are clear instead of this blue color. http://www.itzshop.com/categories.asp?cat=238

Thanks, lol, but it's not quite what I was looking for. But good find nonetheless!

@Aqua Did you see my edit? That's what works for me. They're those aqua colored thingys on the earphones. I was buying them in a six pack. Also another idea is a clip to your collar or shirt to relieve pressure on the lines feeding to your ears. That helps them from pulling out as often.

meh i have Phillips inear earphones. big mistake. i pop em in, and i better stand exactly still. Otherwise? POP! ONe falls out, and then the other follows as the other is falling.

and lets say in laying in bed. my ear will actually PUSH OUT THE EARPHONES!!!!

so basically every 20 seconds im reinserting my earphones. so totally not worth my 20bucks.

i have sony in ear headphones, work perfectly. They aren't round, they curve to fit the shape of the ear, it won't fit in the wrong ear.

in ear headphones are bad apparently, since they increase humidity and allow bacteria to grow (like-who cares, are you gonna get the ear-flu?!)

Actually, this bacteria can get into or behind the eardrum and cause ear infections, which require antibiotic treatment or your eardrum will rupture, causing slight to severe hearing loss depending on the accumulation of scaring tissue. However, that's the least of your concerns with in ear headphones; you need to be sure not to give yourself hearing loss just through volume or muck with your ear pressure.

*Double rupture in right; lance and rupture in left; resistant to about 10 antibiotics*
